A History of Civilization in Blood and Brick&nbsp;<\/em>(Simon and Schuster, 2018). This recent book on walls has been reviewed by journals such as the&nbsp;<em>National Geographic<\/em>, the&nbsp;<em>Washington Post<\/em>, and the&nbsp;<em>Rolling Stone&nbsp;<\/em>and is scheduled soon to appear in Italian, Mandarin, Polish, and Lithuanian translations. Professor Frye has published in numerous journals (including&nbsp;<em>Classical World<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Classica et Mediaevalia<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>The Journal of Ecclesiastical History<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Byzantion<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Historia<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Nottingham Medieval Studies<\/em>, etc.) and has worked as archaeological excavator at Roman Vindolanda (Hadrian\u2019s Wall) and Sibot-3 (Roman settlement in Dacia, now in Transylvania Romania).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"161\" height=\"182\" src=\"https:\/\/research.dwi.ufl.edu\/projects\/technosphere\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/image002.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-326\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nIn this workshop, Professor Frye discusses his ongoing archeological concerns with walls and their functions and how these help us map premodern technospheres.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop is sponsored by the Mellon Intersections Group \u201cImagineering and the Technosphere\u201d and is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 10, 12:00-1:00 pm, Pugh Hall 302 David Frye is Professor of History at Eastern Connecticut State University and author of&nbsp;Walls.
